Opened in July, 1996, Casino Windsor, which has the distinction of being Ontario's first permanent casino, replaced an interim casino as well as the Northern Belle Riverboat. Given Windsor's two gaming venues and Detroit's three large casinos, this border region has become a gambling destination.

The 3,288 slot machines which range in denominations from penny to $100 machines, are located over two floors of gaming. The 89 table games include Blackjack,Baccarat, Mini-baccarat, Let it Ride Pai Gow Poker, Caribbean Stud, Craps, Sic Bo, Spanish 21, 3 Card Poker, Roulette. All winnings and bets are in Canadian dollars so foreign currency is exchanged on-site. A Poker Room is anticipated in late fall 2004.

The Casino complex boasts a 389 room hotel. Amenities include an indoor swimming pool, whirlpool, sauna, exercise room and free parking (garage). The Casino's parking garage is large, well-lit. Within the Casino are a number of restaurants; the Riverside Grill, the Atrium Courtyard, Garden Buffet and Terrace Cafe. Live entertainment takes place in the Showtime Lounge and for $15 Cdn/ticket, is the best deal in town . The Canadian Club Salon, a high stakes table games area, is billed as a premiere gaming room with a private lounge. The Canadian Club Premiere Slot Room is the companion to the Salon. It has over 200 machines with $5.00 slots at the low end.

The Casino's fun card, named Player's Prestige Card is free upon application and depending on play, entitles players to complimentary meals, "cash back", and invitations to special events. Promotions are offered throughout the year and are listed on the Casino's website. The website also has a currency exchange feature which calculates the conversion of US dollars to Canadian funds based on the daily exchange rate.

Point Edward is a very small community bordering Sarnia. The Point Edward Charity Casino which is located approximately ten blocks from downtown Sarnia, and within view of the Bluewater Bridge, opened to the public on April 20, 2000. From Monday through Wednesday, its hours of operation are 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 a.m. From Thursday on, Point Edward Casino is open continuously.

The nautical theme of the casino emphasizes the fact that Point Edward is located on the east bank of the St. Clair River. A submarine-like aluminum exterior represents a wave, while the indoor saltwater aquarium, glass bridge, and replica of a ship's hull continue the underwater fantasy motif.

Point Edward follows the blueprint of the other provincial charity casinos. It has 452 slot machines, ranging in denomination from nickel to five dollar machines. There are 37 tables; games include Caribbean Stud Poker, Blackjack, Let it Ride, Pai Gow Poker, Roulette, Bonus Let It Ride. The Poker Room has four tables that are dedicated to Texas Hold 'Em; hours of operation are Mon-Wed 9am-4am and from Thursday to Sunday the room is open continuously. Reservations can be made 90 minutes in advance. The Winner's Circle is the player's card and is the same card used at all provincial charity and racetrack casinos.

Greektown Casino - Detroit, Michigan

Downtown Detroit has 3 excellent casinos. My favorite casino is Greektown casino located in Detroit's very own Greektown. The casino has free parking only one block away. Greektown is a fantastic spot to go for dinner and then spend time playing in the casino. Greektown Casino is also located near the home of the Detroit Lions in the new Ford Field. Just down the block from Ford Field is Comerica Park, the home of Detroit Tigers.

With its Mediterranean theme, and with design features like a grand staircase, statues, and murals of the Greek Isles, Greektown Casino gives a sense of openness and elegance. Located in a well known and lively area of Detroit, Greektown Casino blends into the this small ethnic restaurant and entertainment district of the City.

The existing old Trappers Alley with its three restaurants and other businesses has been incorporated into the physical structure of the Casino so that patrons can easily access these independently owned eateries without leaving the building. The Casino, itself has seven lounges, including Apollo, Sports Casino, Trapper's Bar, Opa Bar, Galleria Bar, Mousaka, and Ouzo's as well as one steak and seafood restaurant, Alley Grille. Three of the lounges have entertainment nightly. Step outside the casino and Greektown itself provides a variety of dining choices.

Greektown Casino has 2400 slots, ranging from penny to $500 machines. With 80+ tables available, games include Blackjack, Let It Ride, Roulette, Caribbean Stud, Craps, 3 Card Poker, Pai Gow, Baccarat and Mini-baccarat. The Poker Room is open 24/7 and hosts Texas Hold 'Em, Omaha, and Casino War. The high stakes Pantheon Club has its own slot and gaming areas as well as a separate entrance to the Casino. The basic Player's Card is called Club Greektown and with increased play patrons can move to the Torch Club and then VIP Pantheon .
